food trucks

Considering how much time B and I spend at and around food trucks, they haven't really made much of an appearance on the blog. We've really become hard core street food converts -- we definitely go out to eat quite a bit but almost never sit down inside a restaurant (unless cafes count...)

Food trucks are definitely an integral part of our life in Portland and what makes this area so unconventional and laid-back. But most importantly, the food is always great.

Namu, the Korean BBQ truck on Belmont and 43rd
We always end up getting the Bulgogi Cheese steak sandwich below -- it's SO good (it comes with a load of caramelized onions, a spicy horseradish sauce, and tons of cheese.) However, their Chicken Teriyaki plate (with homemade kimchi, spinach salad, and pickled cucumber salad) is stellar. Also, they make Malasadas (little Hawaiian donuts) to order -- yum!

 Chai lattes on Hawthorne

the fried egg truck, also on Hawthorne

Eating a sandwich below named the Egg Zepplin. It's mind-blowingly delicious. Think: house-made (or truck-made) sausage patties, mustard aioli and two soft fried eggs on toast. Heaven.

Also, Sushi PDX (also part of the food truck pod on Belmont and 43rd) deserves a special shout-out. We go here at least 3-4 times per month and yet somehow I've never had the patience to take a quick photo in between bites. Boo. Rest assured, their DST roll is something quite special indeed. GET IT.
